Getting Started with Vox Mimica

Welcome to Vox Mimica! This guide will help you get started with transforming your voice in real-time during your tabletop RPG sessions.

What You'll Need

  • A Vox Mimica account (sign up with Google)
  • The Vox Mimica Discord bot installed on your server
  • A Discord server where you have voice channel access
  • A microphone for voice input
  • Internet connection

Quick Start (5 Minutes)

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to the Vox Mimica app
  2. Click Login
  3. Sign in with your Google account
  4. You'll be taken to the main screen

Step 2: Install Discord Bot

When you first log in, you'll see a setup wizard:

  1. Click Add Bot to Discord
  2. Select your server
  3. Click Authorize
  4. Return to Vox Mimica

The bot needs these permissions:

  • Connect - Join voice channels
  • Speak - Transmit audio
  • Use Voice Activity - Detect when you're speaking

Step 3: Create Your First Character

  1. Click the Create Voice button
  2. Browse available voices in the dropdown
  3. Select a voice (e.g., "Adam" for a wise character)
  4. Enter sample text: "Hello, I am a wise wizard"
  5. Click Preview Voice to test it
  6. Adjust settings:
    • Stability: 0.5 (balanced)
    • Similarity: 0.8 (accurate)
  7. Name your character (e.g., "Wise Wizard Gandor")
  8. Click Save

Your character card appears on the main screen!

Step 4: Connect to Discord

  1. Click the connection status indicator (top-left)
  2. In the modal, click Connect Discord
  3. Authorize Vox Mimica
  4. Select your server from the dropdown
  5. Select your voice channel
  6. Click Connect

The bot joins your voice channel!

Step 5: Use Your Character Voice

  1. Find your character card on the main screen
  2. Click and hold the microphone button
  3. Speak your lines
  4. Release when done

Your transformed voice plays in Discord!
